The fourth episode of Dune Prophecy has landed, pulling viewers further into its intricate web of political intrigue, shifting alliances, and ever-deepening mysteries. Amid this unfolding drama, one character stands out: Desmond Hart. This episode offers fresh insights into his calculated manoeuvres, signalling a turning point in the power dynamics of the Empire…

Desmond Gains the Emperor's Favour

A major development in this episode is the fact that Desmond has now got the Emperor and his wife fully on his side and supporting him, even to the point where he is now commanding some of the emperors guards! While his intentions remain unclear, it feels as though the series is gearing up for a major reveal. The question remains: what is Desmond’s true purpose?

A Slower Episode with Mixed Impact

Compared to earlier episodes, this week’s instalment is a little slower paced than the rest. While we did get an exciting showcase of Hart’s powers during the Landsraad meeting, I couldn’t help but feel it was undermined by the betrayal of the Emperors daughter. Due to the lack of development of her as a character prior, it makes you think… why should anyone care? Without a deeper understanding of her character, the betrayal feels more like a narrative device than a meaningful twist.

Valya’s Alliance in Peril

We knew from the last episode that Valya wanted to form an alliance with her Harkonnen family. Following the events surrounding her uncle in this episode, it’s clear that her position within the power hierarchy is starting to run thin. As the series progresses, her next moves will undoubtedly be crucial to the larger narrative…

The End is Near...

With only two episodes left in the season, Dune Prophecy has left plenty of questions to be answered. Will we finally find out Desmond’s true intentions? What role will the Emperor’s daughter play in the overarching story? And how will the Bene Gesserit begin to cement their place in history?
