Valya’s hold on the Sisterhood is proving to be weaker than she believed. The episode peeled back the layers of her authority, revealing cracks that may prove fatal to her leadership.
Tula's storyline took centre stage as the truth about Desmond being her son was revealed last episode. A gripping flashback showed her confiding in Valya about her pregnancy—remarkably, Valya showed support, even though the child’s father was an Atreides. Tula’s discovery of Valya’s use of "the Voice" to compel Mother Dorotea to commit suicide adds another layer of tension. In an act of defiance, Tula secretly sent Desmond away, ensuring Valya remained unaware of his existence.
Tula’s investigation into the virus was another key point of this episode. Despite her efforts, no cure could be found, and it’s concluded that the virus is not a natural phenomenon. Could this be from the from the machines? This is an interesting revelation that will lead us into the second season!
The Shocking Truth About Sister Lila
An interesting revelation confirmed that Sister Lila is alive—but it’s not actually her. The body is occupied by Mother Dorotea, who was previously manipulated by Valya. With her newfound determination, “Lila” aims to restore the Sisterhood to its “righteous path.” This sets up an intriguing plot for Season 2!
The Emperor’s Tragic End
The Emperor’s storyline reached a shocking conclusion. After discovering he was destined to die by Valya’s hand, he chose to end his own life, bringing a swift and dramatic end to his arc while setting up further chaos in the empire.
A Thrilling Showdown and a Teasing Cliffhanger
The finale culminated in a breathtaking confrontation between Tula, Valya, and Desmond. Desmond infected Valya with the virus but collapsed in the process. In a haunting sequence, Valya overcame her fear-induced vision and encountered mechanical blue eyes staring back at her—a chilling connection to the machines. The flashbacks to her brother’s loss and Desmond’s fate on Arrakis, where he is swallowed by a Shai-Hulud, added a dramatic depth to her character arc.
The series ended with a tantalising cliffhanger: Valya, Ynez, and Keiran arriving on Arrakis. What lies ahead for them? Fans will have to wait for Series 2 to find out!
