Mysterious Solo
This episode, titled ‘Solo’, finally gave us a proper introduction to Steve Zahn’s character: Solo, a mysterious character that neither us the viewer or Juliette can decide whether to trust or not. Solo, secluded within Silo 17, carries an air of paranoia and secrecy, enhanced by the eerie shots of his eyes peering out from behind locked doors. The unsettling discovery of dead bodies surrounding his locked room also doesn’t help his case…
Solo reveals the reason behind Silo 17’s downfall. According to him, someone who left the Silo without cleaning, instead wrote lies on the monitor before disappearing into the wasteland. The lie was that it was safe for people to go out… but that was untrue and everyone died. Everyone except Solo who conveniently stayed...
Juliette’s interactions with Solo only exemplify how smart she is; good or bad, sane or insane, she needs his help if she wants answers and a way back home.

Rebellion Brewing in Mechanical
The rebellion brewing in Juliette’s home Silo reaches a boiling point in this episode. Chaos erupts in the Mechanical Department, ending in a violent confrontation that ends with the death of Cooper. While this loss should have been an impactful moment, the limited screen time dedicated to his character’s death dampens its emotional impact.
Nonetheless, the rebellion underscores the growing unrest among the Silo’s residents, with Juliette’s influence continuing to resonate even in her absence!

Consciences found?
This episode explored many character’s consciences, particularly Iain Glen’s Pete Nichols and Tanya Moodie’s Judge Meadows.
Meadows begins to question Bernard’s decisions and also his version of events of what actually happened with Juliette. She persuades Sheriff Billings (Chinaza Uche) to share his report on the incident to her first. When he does, she seems conflicted. Where do her loyalties actually lie?
Meanwhile, Juliette’s father is seen struggling to process his grief and encounters a mother who is hoping to be selected for conceiving. Viewers know from season 1 that Pete has been pretending to remove the birth control devices from many women if instructed to do so, no questions asked. However, Juliette’s confrontation to him on this has clearly prompted questions as we see him ignore the instruction and remove the birth control. His actions echo Juliette’s ignition of rebellion in a different way than the physical uprising’s in mechanical which is even more influential. Glen’s scenes are beautifully moving in this episode.

Juliette’s Mission: Return and Resolve
For plot and pace reasons as well as for the safety of her friends and family, Juliette needs to find a way back home. The stakes are getting higher and with more Zahn and Ferguson acting opposite each other this week, fans should anticipate another stellar performance from them both and only hope for further revelations of why the silo’s exist.
With stellar performances driving the narrative forward, there is no better time to start watching! Silo Season 2 airs weekly on Apple TV, offering a compelling journey into a dystopian world where trust and truth are the ultimate battlegrounds.
